From Career Day to Calling: How Two Nurses and a Village Changed Everything

This spring, our team set up a Career Day for our students. We prepared the space, sent out the invites, and on a Thursday we had multiple Nurses come with passion.

And what unfolded next became one of the most inspiring stories we’ve seen.

The Power of Showing Up

One of the nurses sat down with a student named Kyrielle. They talked nonstop for 15 straight minutes. Kyrielle asked about schooling, specialties, real-life hospital experience, and what it takes to truly become a nurse.

That conversation sparked something deep. A connection. A flicker of calling.

The nurse later reflected:

“I am beyond thankful that I get to watch someone’s interest in the medical field, especially nursing, grow just by talking to them about it. Then to see them take a step further to really make sure this is what God is calling them to do… what a blessing!”

That would’ve been enough.

But the story wasn’t over.

The Invitation That Changed Everything

The second nurse told her story and then she invited Kyrielle to attend a hands-on, real-world nursing camp in another city. A place where students can try procedures, meet medical mentors, and see if the field fits.

Of course, there were a million logistical reasons it could have ended right there.

Transportation. Cost. Timing. Support.

But instead?

The Village Showed Up

💛 The first nurse quietly stepped in and paid the full cost of camp.

📝 The second nurse walked Kyrielle through every form and step.

🚗 One of our Missionary Counselors made the drive to and from camp five times.

🤝 A board member took a turn too.

🎉 YOU — through your giving — built the structure that made all of this possible.

At camp, Kyrielle’s joy was unmistakable.

The nurse who walked with her through the week said:

“Truth be told, she took on every part of camp with so much enthusiasm. We laughed through the whole moulage scare she sent into Brenham! Her heart is precious, and she was like a kid in a candy shop… Her smiles, her questions, even the moment we took the last photo together — it all showed how serious she is. I truly believe she’s stepping into what God is calling her to do.”

The Moment of Clarity

By the end of the first day, it was already clear. Kyrielle had seen her future.

“I am very thankful to experience this — it’s so amazing. Literally, thanks to that program, it helped me realize I want to be a NICU Nurse and help newborn babies. But I don’t mind working with adults either! I would love to experience such fun again!”

From 15 minutes at Career Day…

To a 3 day camp…

To a student stepping confidently into her calling…

This is what happens when a village shows up.

Every mile driven, every form filled out, every dollar given — it all led to this moment.

To laughter.

To tears.

To a future that’s now in motion.
